This webpage is where you will find updated information about current projects and meeting dates for Trinity Church Quilters.

Our winter project was to make 25-30 tote bags for Womanspace. A dozen women brought their sewing machines to the George Thomas room on Feb. 18th 2017 to make the tote bags. Some were completed that day and more were sewn at home.

We exceeded our goal and made 35 totebags! This was part of a church-wide Lenten project. During the first two weeks of Lent, parishioners were asked to donate items to place in the bags. Women who have suffered domestic violence and sexual assault are receiving these gifts. We sewed a label inside each bag that says, "Trinity Church Princeton prays for God's peace in your life". The bags were blessed in church on Sunday morning 3/12/17 and we prayed for victims of physical and sexual abuse.

In conjunction with this project, on Sunday, March 12th, our church hosted a speaker from Womanspace who informed us about its mission and programs as well as abuse, prevalence and awareness of domestic violence.

"What an amazing and wonderful project.  I am confident that the love and care which went into designing and making the tote bags and collecting the items will convey God’s love to those who receive them.  Thank you for your generous spirit and creativity always!" - The Rev. Nancy Hagner, associate rector of Trinity Church

Donations and Tote bags!

Below is the email from Rev. Susan Victor, director of Womanspace:

Hi Suzanne,
We would love tote bags because they can be so versatile and put to use in multiple ways by our clients.
Something to think about: during the month of April ( and again in October)... Sexual Assault Awareness month and Domestic Violence Awareness month respectively, we try to do something special for the clients who come to our counseling office. If you want to think in terms of setting a goal to be able to work towards that... a bag for each client... or if that is too much, bags that could be given to clients at the conclusion of their time at Womanspace, that would be great. Just ideas for you to consider!
But in the end, anything made with love and shared would be welcome!!

Susan
Click HERE for a video that will help you to understand how to make this bag. The video will help you get the general idea of how the bag is constructed but we will make the straps in a completely different way. Other details are slightly different so we'll be using the instructions on the .pdf file (above) which has photos and important details. The video will give you a rough idea of the process.
